Bryan Woodall, a 2009 Silver Hawk reliever, was the only member of the Visalia Rawhide named to the California League team that will take on the best from the Carolina League on June 22 in the 2010 California-Carolina League All-Star Game. In 22 relief appearances this season, Woodall has allowed only one earned run for a 0.30 ERA and a record of 4-2 with five saves. Here's a link to the rosters for each team, which feature a lot of other former Midwest League players.
Last year for South Bend, Woodall posted a 4-5 record with a 3.24 ERA and two saves in 36 relief appearances. After struggling early in the season, Woodall turned it around and became one of the Silver Hawks' most reliable options out of the pen.

Visalia Rawhide Shutout of BA's Top 20 Cal League Prospects
Not terribly surprising, but no Diamondbacks prospects made the California League's Top 20 Prospects as chosen by Baseball America. The Visalia Rawhide had an average season, but they weren't really loaded with the Diamondbacks top prospects (Jarrod Parker only pitched there four games before being promoted).
There are some names you'll recognize on the list however, as many former Midwest League stars were in the Cal League this season. Click the link, and see where the likes of James Darnell, Alex Liddi, and other former Midwest Leaguers rank.

High-A All-Stars
At the high-A level, the California League puts together a league of all-stars to play a game against the Carolina League (another high-A league). So there are fewer all-stars per team, but still a unique concept.
I'd love to see the Midwest League All-Stars battle the South Atlantic League All-Stars every summer, but I think that is probably years away from ever happening.
Anyhow, the purpose of this post is to tell you of two former Silver Hawks that are on the California League roster: Josh Collmenter and Pat McAnaney.
For the complete rosters for this game, click here.
Speaking of All-Stars, if you want to vote for the triple-A all-stars, go here (you have to put in a name and email address, but it's free).
