Postponed Again

Thunderstorms all day in the South Bend area has resulted in tonight's game being postponed.

There will be another doubleheader tomorrow beginning at 4:45 PM Eastern Time.

Full details can be found on www.silverhawks.com.

Trying Again Today

Let's play two today.  At least we hope so after last night's rainout.  The weather isn't great today, but we're hoping to get a break in the rain to get today's game in.

If anything changes, the information will be available as soon as possible on www.silverhawks.com.

If things go on as planned, I'll post a lineup for you a bit later on.

Between Games

Just a quick note -- between games of the doubleheader tonight, we'll have to go back to ESPN Radio programming for a while instead of doing an elongated segment between games. With no interns anymore and a large crowd expected, I am on my own to get the Fort Wayne lineup for game two and get it typed up and delivered to multiple people. So basically, the game will end, we'll do a quick wrap up with the game totals, we'll send you back to ESPN Radio programming for about 10 minutes or so, and then we'll come back with the normal between game stuff.

Thanks for understanding.

Postponed Tonight (Thursday)

Thursday's game has been postponed due to rain and unplayable field conditions at the Cove.

A doubleheader will take place tomorrow beginning at 5:00 PM. Gates open at 4;30.

The pregame interview is going to be a little bit different tonight. I did a longer interview with manager Mark Haley about former players in the majors, and also how he uses those lessons to teach the current squad. I'll play the first half of it during the pregame show before game one. Then I'll go back and play the full interview between games of the doubleheader. So if you listen to the whole thing, you'll hear the first half of the interview twice.

Pregame show begins at 5:45 PM Eastern Time. First pitch is at 6:05 PM Eastern Time.

Today's Game Postponed

South Bend, IN – The South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that Wednesday morning’s home game against the Lansing Lugnuts has been postponed due to rain. Fans can redeem their rain check tickets at any time at the stadium box office.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday morning beginning at 10:30 AM for a special School Day at the Cove. Gates will open at 9:30 AM at Coveleski Stadium.

Because of the unique situation of a doubleheader on a school day, the Silver Hawks are offering free tickets for the second game. Fans arriving to Coveleski Stadium after 12:00 noon will be issued a free ticket for game two of the doubleheader.

Probable pitchers will be RHP Sean Morgan (1-0, 2.55 ERA) for South Bend in game one, while Lansing counters with RHP Henderson Alvarez (3-3, 3.86 ERA). In game two, LHP Taylor Sinclair (0-1, 3.68 ERA) will make the spot start for South Bend, with Lansing turning to scheduled starter LHP John Anderson (1-1, 3.07 ERA).

For more information, contact the Silver Hawks at (574) 235-9988.

Rise and Shine

There is no part of my alarm going off at 6 AM that I enjoy. I know to some of you that is not early at all, but to those of us that work nights (particularly a doubleheader the night before), the alarm buzzing that early just rocks you out of your sleep.

Early morning bus to Quad Cities, with game one of the series tonight at 5 PM eastern time. Pregame show comes your way at 4:40.

I'll check back in with some updates on the blog once we get to Iowa.

Tarp Pulls...

...are not fun. We've taken it off then put it back on today. Still waiting for the rain to clear out, and then we get to take it off again. Sweet.

Doubleheader still on at 5:00 PM. Pregame at 4:40 on 1620 AM The Point or online at http://www.silverhawks.com/.
