Something Other than Tiger

The whole world is abuzz about Tiger Woods press conference today (although if he's not taking questions, it's not really a conference, now is it?).

Honestly, I really don't care. He doesn't owe me an apology, nor does he owe you one. But he's a public figure, needs to save face, so whatever.

Let's focus on the more important stuff: BASEBALL. Here are some links for you:

-Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly is a Silver Hawks fan: http://nwitimes.com/sports/college/article_f073a046-0b74-5682-8fa1-3f78acdc97d4.html

-ESPN has spring capsules for every team, here's the National League and here's the American League.

-CBS Sportsline has a ridiculously early Power Rankings column.

Q and A with Jim Callis

ESPN.com did a live chat with Jim Callis of Baseball America yesterday. You can read the entire transcript here.

I scanned through it for former Silver Hawks names, and here's the ones I found:

Carlos Gonzalez
Brett Anderson

Some other names of interest in the piece:

Dee Gordon (Great Lakes Loons SS)
Travis Snider (former Lansing Lugnut)
Jaff Decker (Fort Wayne TinCap)
Todd Frazier (former Dayton Dragon)

It's not the best chat I've ever read, but it's something.

Odds and Ends

A few baseball-related links for you today:

-The Astros have hired Red Sox bench coach Brad Mills as their new manager. For those of you lifelong Midwest League fans, Mills managed Peoria in 1989.

-Former Silver Hawks pitcher Brian Bruney has been added to the Yankees World Series roster.

-ESPN's Jayson Stark tells us that this World Series will determine the Team of the Decade.

-Everyone at ESPN.com is making their World Series predictions, so I will make mine as well. I like the Phillies in 6.
