Christmas in July
Despite the temperatures soaring above 90 degrees, tonight is "Christmas in July" at the Cove! Fans can receive $2 off a bleacher ticket by bringing an unwrapped gift to the game that will be donated to Toys for Tots. Also, Santa will make a visit to spread holiday cheer. Today's Roster Move
Starting pitcher Charles Brewer has been promoted to Visalia.

Anytime you lose a player who ranks second in the league in ERA, it's going to hurt. Hopefully the rest of the rotation and pitching staff will step up. Unfortunately, I think we all knew this move was coming, we just hoped it wouldn't happen.
Good luck to Charles as he moves on. He certainly proved that he could dominate this league.
It appears as if Diogenes Rosario is going to be moved into the rotation to fill the void.

It's February!
I, for one, am extremely happy that January is over. January is probably my least favorite month of the year mainly because of the weather (although I'm not real big on November either). February isn't great, but it is the month that we hear the four greatest words in the English language: "PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT"
There's a lot of work to be done between now and Opening Day, but the Silver Hawks staff is working hard to make sure the 2010 season is bigger and better than ever. Friday Fun
It's been a good week here at Coveleski Stadium as we continue to prepare for the 2010 season. Expect some information next week on the homepage of http://www.silverhawks.com/ about the promotional schedule for the season. Also next week, we'll check in with Ryan Babineau on his recovery from hip surgery in the latest installment of "Catching Up With".
Believe it or not, we are only 76 days away from Opening Day 2010 as I write this blog post.
A few things to get you in the mood:
-First, Nick Piecoro is weighing the pros and cons of the Diamondbacks trying to trade catcher Chris Snyder.
-After you check out that, head over to http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ to catch up on all the latest signings.
-Baseball America has the Mariners top 10, who are now affiliated with the Clinton LumberKings.

Lansing...Throwing in the Towel?
The Lugnuts promoted the following players today:

RHP Matt Daly
To recap, that's a starting outfielder, the starting shortstop, a starting pitcher, and the closer.
This move sounds a lot like Toronto is saying "Well Lansing isn't going to make the playoffs. Let's promote a few guys and get them some experience at the next level."

Jeff Dietz...
...is going to double-A.
Dietz was a Silver Hawk in 2008, going 1-2 with a 2.18 ERA.
This season in high-A he was 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA in 16 relief appearances.

Harden Promoted to High-A

RHP Trevor Harden to high-A Visalia.
RHP Randy Rodriguez joins South Bend from extended spring training.
C Ryan Babineau will go back to extended spring training to continue his rehab. Babineau has been on the DL since late April.
Harden was leading the league in wins and innings pitched. Congratulations to Trevor on the promotion. Rodriguez and the rest of the staff will have to fill the void.
