Season Series Recap: The Fort Wayne TinCaps won the first 11 matchups of the season series, establishing a head-to-head dominance early. South Bend finally broke through in the final game of the first half, scoring eight times in the second inning on their way to an 8-3 win. However, the pendulum swung back in Fort Wayne’s favor to open the second half, with the TinCaps sweeping the four game set at Parkview Field. The two teams did not meet up again until mid-August, and for the first time all season, the Silver Hawks showed they would be competitive with Fort Wayne. The Hawks took 3 out of 4 at Coveleski Stadium, pinning losses on both Simon Castro and Erik Davis in the series.
