Could This Have a Trickle Down Impact on Silver Hawks?

I just received an email from the Arizona Diamondbacks with the following information:

Transferred from SA Yakima to AAA Reno:  Sammy de los Santos
Released (post-game May 6, 2011):  Ron Mahay

On the surface, it doesn't seem like a big deal, until you factor in that Sammy de los Santos has never pitched above rookie level Missoula.  So is a pitcher really going to go from Rookie ball to AAA?  The answer, of course, is that this is just a temporary assignment to fill the void left by Ron Mahay getting released.

So that means there will be a bullpen spot available in Reno in the next couple of days when de los Santos gets reassigned.  A highly likely scenario is that a player from AA moves up, followed by a Visalia reliever going to Mobile, and a South Bend reliever going to Visalia.

Let's see if this pans out, but if I were one of the older reliever in the Silver Hawks bullpen (Dan Taylor, Brian Budrow), I might keep a bag packed just in case.
