From the Notes - May 10th

Whitecaps Team Hitting: .252 – 5th                                 
Whitecaps Team Pitching: 4.02 ERA – 14th

LAST GAME:  The Silver Hawks completed the three game series sweep with a 7-2 victory over the Fort Wayne TinCaps on Monday evening at Coveleski Stadium.  Bradin Hagens (WP, 2-1) allowed just one run over 6.0 innings to get the victory.  Yazy Arbelo had two doubles and three RBIs – tying for the Midwest League lead with 25 RBIs on the season.  Zach Walters had two doubles and scored three runs while Matt Helm added a RBI single for the Hawks.  The loss was pinned on Adys Portillo (LP, 0-5), who allowed four earned runs (five total) over 4.0 innings. 

TEAM NOTES:

·         Last night’s victory marked the team’s first sweep and four game winning streak of the 2011 season.

·         The Silver Hawks bullpen has allowed just six earned runs in the last 45.2 innings pitched (1.18 ERA since April 28th).

·         The defense has turned 33 double plays in 30 games this season – ranking third in the league.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:

·         Yazy Arbelo ranks T-1st in the MWL with eight home runs and 25 RBIs.

·         Chris Jarrett leads the league with three intentional walks this season.

·         Blake Cooper has recorded a save in five straight outings, tossing five consecutive 1-2-3 innings, and retiring 19 in a row.

·         Dan Taylor has retired the last 19 batters he has faced in a row, dating back to April 29th at Lake County.
