From the Notes - August 14th

LAST GAME: The South Bend Silver Hawks used two big innings to complete a three game series sweep of Great Lakes, taking the finale on Friday night 10-5. The Silver Hawks scored four runs in the first inning on two hits and four walks, and then scored five more runs in the sixth inning on four hits in the big win. Matt Davidson had three doubles and three RBIs while Ramon Castillo had three hits and two RBIs to lead the offensive attack. Three pitchers combined to strand eight Loons runners, with the win going to Brad Gemberling (WP, 3-8). Greg Wilborn (LP, 2-1) lasted just 3.0 innings for Great Lakes, suffering the loss.

TEAM NOTES:
• South Bend enters the series with West Michigan just 2.5 games behind the Whitecaps in the standings.
• With 23 games remaining in the second half, the Silver Hawks are currently 3.5 games out of a playoff spot.
• All 23 games left will be against Eastern Division opponents, with 19 of the 23 against other playoff hopefuls.
• The sweep of the Loons was the team’s first sweep since taking three vs. Dayton May 7th- 9th.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
• Matt Davidson ranks first in the MWL with 79 RBIs. He’s also fourth in doubles (35) and second in XBH (54).
• Errol Hollinger has six RBIs over his last two games (five on Thursday, one on Friday).
• Keon Broxton continues to lead all of baseball with 16 triples, despite not having one since July 25th vs. Wisconsin.
