Brett Brach (WP, 5-8) went 6.2 scoreless innings for the win, with Jeremy Johnson (ND) and Jose Flores (SV, 6) closing it out. Tyler Skaggs (LP, 8-5) was the tough luck loser, striking out seven in 5.0 innings. Derek Eitel (ND) pitched 3.0 perfect innings of relief for South Bend. Ramon Castillo had two hits as the Hawks offensive highlight.

PLAYOFF RACE:
• With eight games remaining, the Hawks are currently 6.5 games behind West Michigan for the final playoff spot.

TEAM NOTES:
• The Silver Hawks are just 3-for-33 with runners in scoring position over the last three games (all losses).
• The elimination number is 2, meaning any combo of West Michigan wins or South Bend losses equaling two eliminates the Hawks.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
• Keon Broxton continues to lead all of baseball with 19 triples. He has tied the MWL record for most triples in a season (established in 1954 by John Wyre of the Clinton Pirates).
• Ramon Castillo is on an 11 game hitting streak (.415, 17 hits in 41 at-bats).
