LAST GAME: South Bend was held to only one run in the doubleheader Wednesday night, losing 4-0 in game one and 2-1 in game two to the Great Lakes Loons. The Silver Hawks lone run came on a double from Marc Krauss and a single by Alberto Diaz against Javy Guerra in the bottom of the seventh in game two. Josh Walter (4-1) earned the win in game one for the Loons, with Bobby Blevins (5-4) pitching 6.0 shutout innings for the Loons in game two. Randy Rodriguez (1-4) lost game one with Daniel Vasquez (2-1) losing game two for South Bend.

THE PLAYOFF CHASE (Top two teams from each division qualify in each half):
· The Silver Hawks have been eliminated from playoff contention in the first half.
· Fort Wayne leads the East by one over West Michigan. Great Lakes must win out and have WM lose out to clinch.
· 4 out of 8 teams in the West are still mathematically alive. KC leads the division by 1.0 game over CR and CLN.

TEAM NOTES:
· South Bend has lost six in a row and 14 of their last 15 to fall a season low 12 games under .500.
· South Bend has lost six games in a row despite outhitting the opponents in five of the six games.
· South Bend has a losing record against every Eastern Division team but Lansing (1-6 WM, 1-7 GL, 0-8 FW, 3-5 DTN, 7-3 LAN).
· South Bend had four players (Duffy, Navarro, Cook, Hose) chosen to the All-Star team along with the entire field staff.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
· Marc Krauss went 1-for-3 in his professional debut last night, with a double and a run scored in game two.
· Victor Estevez has a personal high five game hitting streak (8-for-last-17).

  1. how does Krauss like in person?? Also how about Sosa last night...3 IP...no hits..very nice

  2. I'd say Krauss looked good at the plate last night. Had a 3-1 count in his first at-bat that he flew out on, but took a good cut. His next groundout could have been up the middle but the shortstop made a nice play. Then the double to the opposite field. Showed good plate discipline and some opposite field pop.

    That's one game and three at-bats though. I'll need to see him a lot more.

    And Sosa was awesome. He only went three innings b/c he is starting again on Sunday. Hopefully on Sunday he can go a bit longer.
