Ramon Ramirez was promoted to high-A Visalia last night. That's the only news I have right now. I'm still waiting to find out if A.J. Pollock is officially being added to the roster today or not.
While losing Ramirez might not seem like a huge deal, I think it hurts in terms of leadership. He was a player that the younger guys looked up to, particularly the younger Latin American players. He was a good "clubhouse" guy, and had a knack for coming up with some big hits this season (remember the walk-off hit in the bottom of the 15th against Beloit).
More updates if I hear anything more.
Any idea why they would choose to pick Ramon instead one of the stronger infielders? I saw they just promoted Rumler from High A to AA and that was another in my eyes weird move because he'd been struggling hitting, and as far as I knew, secondary player this year.
