I'm back from my vacation (more on that a bit later this week), and apparently I picked a bad week to leave town.
While I was away, the City of South Bend announced that they would be spending some money to help renovate Coveleski Stadium. Among the planned improvements are:
-Field Turf
-State-of-the-Art Video Scoreboard
-Walk-in Team Store
-Renovated Suites and Upper Deck
-New Center Field entrance that opens the Cove up to downtown
-And much, much more.
You can click on the link above to see some artist renderings of the "new" Cove. I'll also spend some time on the blog tomorrow going over a few more details about the project.
I have to catch up on some things now, but I'll probably have one more post later today.

A Worthy Cause
I'm excited to announce that Coveleski Stadium will be hosting the "Take Steps for Crohn's and Colitis Walk" on June 19th before the Silver Hawks battle the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
For those of you that don't know (and that's probably most of you), I have Crohn's Disease. I was diagnosed in junior high, and have been living with it for about 15 years now. While there are certainly people that suffer more from this disease than I do, I still have my battles with it from time to time. There is currently no cure for Crohn's Disease, and it affects over 1.4 million people in the United States alone (1 out of every 200 people).
You will hear more about this walk on this blog over the next few months. I would apologize for posts that aren't about baseball, but sometimes there are just more important things in life -- and to me, raising money for Crohn's and Colitis research is more important.

Poll Results
It seems as if the overwhelming favorite part of the blog is the photos that I post. I just realized that I really haven't posted the "ballpark tour" of Coveleski Stadium, so I'll try to take some pictures this weekend and get those up of the home ballpark.
Sorry for the lack of posts today, but a night game followed by a morning game takes it's toll. I'll be back tomorrow with game notes, a look at the rest of the minor league system, and of course, the starting lineup.
