Lost Feed Issues

I realize we have been having some issues with dropping the streaming audio feed lately, and for that I apologize.  However, I must ask again that you please, please, please email me at oserey@silverhawks.com if you lose the feed.  Do not assume that someone else will.  No one emailed me in the ninth inning last night so I had no idea it had dropped.  Again, I'd rather receive 1,000 emails than none at all.

Thanks for your cooperation and your continued support.

Broadcast Info

Thanks to everyone who tuned in last night.

I know there were a few technical glitches, and I thank you for your patience.  Streaming online, we are going to have those from time to time.

I strongly urge you to email me at oserey@silverhawks.com if you lose the feed.  Getting emails is the only way I know that we've dropped the feed, and seeing them pop up lets me know to reconnect.  Do not feel like someone else will do it...if you lose the feed, send the email.  I don't mind at all, and in fact, the more emails I receive the more likely I am to see them and get the feed back as quickly as possible.

Some places will be better than others, so just be patient with the broadcast and let us know when you lose it!

Thanks again to all those that listened and emailed last night.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Game Broadcast Information

You'll notice that on the top right side of this page, I've put the information on how to listen to Silver Hawks games live.

Simply click that link, then click the link under where it says Today's Broadcast and you'll be all set (you may have to pick which format you want to listen in -- Windows Media Player would be the standard).

Regular season games can also be accessed through http://www.silverhawks.com/.  There should be a listen live link in the box towards the right-center of the page.

Pregame shows begin 20 minutes prior to the first pitch.

IMPORTANT:  The links are only active when the game is live.  If you try to click it at 2 PM for a 7 PM start, you'll get nothing.

Feel free to email me with questions at oserey@silverhawks.com.  I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.

Two Important Announcements

A couple of important announcements:

1)  The exhibition game against Notre Dame will be played at Notre Dame this year.  Visit http://www.silverhawks.com/ for more information.
2)  Silver Hawks games will not be broadcast on local radio this year, but they will all be streamed online at http://www.silverhawks.com/.  This is something that was out of my control, and while I feel badly about it, there's not much I can do.  Everything will sound the same (I hope), but you just have to listen online this year.

Tuesday Morning Report (April 6th Edition)

Good Morning!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the exhibition game last night, as the Silver Hawks defeated Notre Dame 4-0.

A few notes:

-Notre Dame has been struggling this year, but even still, a team of professional players should typically always beat a team of college players. It's nothing against the Fighting Irish, but the levels are different. I would say a Double-A team should always beat a single-A team. There's just a difference in the level of play.

-Even still, I was encouraged by the way the Silver Hawks played. They pitched well, hit decently, and made the plays in the field. It was nice to see this team get after it from the very beginning.

-I felt the broadcast was solid, even if I do say so myself. In an exhibition game with a lot of changes and trying to work in new sponsors and in-game reads, it's going to be choppy at times. But from a technical standpoint, I was very happy with how it sounded and I hope that you enjoyed it as well.

-On Thursday night, if you go to www.silverhawks.com there should be a "gamecenter" with linescore information. In this section, there will be a link that says "listen". Click on that, and it will take you to the All In Broadcast page where you select which format you want to listen in.

If you had any trouble with the streaming audio last night, please let me know. I haven't heard any complaints, so hopefully all ran smoothly.

Comments are always welcome to oserey@silverhawks.com or you can always comment on posts on this blog.

Roster and Broadcast Notes (VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW)

I know everyone wants the roster ASAP. I get that. But I also understand that our official opener isn't until Thursday, things can happen between now and then, and the Diamondbacks (amongst other major league clubs) don't like releasing a roster when they still might make a change to it. So everyone take a deep breath, enjoy the rest of your Easter Sunday, and we'll have the roster for you tomorrow morning.

Secondly, our games will be broadcast on 1620 ESPN Radio again this year in the South Bend area. If you live elsewhere, you can catch them all online. For the regular season games, a link will appear on http://www.silverhawks.com/ that should say "Listen". Click that, it'll take you to the page. Or, you can just bookmark http://www.allinbroadcasting.com/Southbend.html. That should take you to the page you need as well, and then just click what format you want to listen to it in.

THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I WILL EVER WRITE ON THIS BLOG!

You can only listen when the game is live. If you try to get it and the Silver Hawks aren't playing, you'll likely get an error message. If you are positive the Silver Hawks are playing, and you are not getting the game, please call 1-888-337-1105. This number will take you to All In Broadcasting. They stream our games for us, but they are neither employed by the Silver Hawks or ESPN Radio. Be polite, tell them you aren't getting the Silver Hawks game, and they'll try to fix the problem. I can't repeat this enough: Emailing me or calling ESPN Radio if you have problems with the streaming audio will not solve the problem. YOU MUST CALL THE 1-888-337-1105 NUMBER.

Streaming Audio - PLEASE READ

I understand that the streaming audio feed dropped out today, and a lot of people listening at home on the computer were unable to listen to the end of the game.

If this ever happens again, please please please dial the following number:
1-877-913-9739.

WRITE THIS NUMBER DOWN. PUT IT NEXT TO YOUR COMPUTER.

Keep calling that number until someone answers. Call it over and over again. Call it until your fingers can no longer dial that number.

I don't know when the internet feed drops out, because I am still broadcasting on the local radio station and can't monitor it. The only way I know is if someone emails me, but then I only have 90 seconds between innings to
A) Check my email
B) Read the message
C) Dial the number
D) Wait for someone to answer
E) Tell them the problem and hope they get it back

If you call as soon as you lose the feed, that'll minimize the time the feed is down.

I'm sorry for the lost feed, but if you don't call that number, there's nothing I can do. They are the ones that control the streaming audio. It's usually reliable. The last few days they've had some issues. Today though, apparently no one was monitoring it and they had no idea they had lost the feed until I called after the game. So again, write down that number above and call, call, call.

Rain Delay

We are officially in a rain delay. I will give updates every 20 minutes. For those of you listening online, a reminder: if the stream drops out ever, please call 1-877-913-9739.

I remind you of this because when rain delays happen, sometimes the streaming company thinks the game is over or cancelled when they hear national programming. So if you lose the feed, call the number, tell them it's in a rain delay, and they'll get the feed going again for you.

Radio Station Switch

This will be my only post for the rest of today, because it is so important I feel that everyone that visits here needs to see it. Here's the release (in italics), and then read below for how this impacts you.

SOUTH BEND, IN – The South Bend Silver Hawks and Artistic Media Partners announced today that effective April 24, 2009 all Silver Hawks games, both home and away, will be broadcast on WPNT 1620 AM The Point.

The Silver Hawks will broadcast tonight’s 7:05 p.m. game against the Lansing Lugnuts on ESPN Radio 1490 as originally scheduled. The Silver Hawks will debut on WPNT 1620 AM The Point with Friday’s 7:05 p.m. start against the Lugnuts.

All games will continue to be streamed online at www.SILVERHAWKS.com.

Alright, so what does this mean for you?

If you listen through the radio in and around South Bend...You will now have to tune your dial to 1620 AM to catch Silver Hawks games beginning tomorrow (Friday) night.

If you listen online....this means nothing. You will still listen to the games the same way you always have.

Questions? Email me at oserey@silverhawks.com.

Internet Feed (Update)

Thanks for the emails everyone. I have a lot more listeners out there than I realized. Good to know.

As it turns out, the internet feed was lost yesterday sometime in the 8th inning. If this ever happens again, please please please dial the following number: 1-877-913-9739. Write it down, put it next to your computer, save it on your computer, post it on your refridgerator, whatever. If you ever lose the feed, call that number, tell them, and they can usually get it back quickly, but only if you call first and tell them there is a problem.

Again, call 1-877-913-9739 and they can get the feed back on.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience at the end of yesterday's game.

Internet Feed

Did anyone lose the internet audio feed at the end of Sunday's game? I had a report that one person couldn't get the end of the game, and I'm curious if it was just an individual problem, or if everyone that was listening lost the feed.

If you could, please send me an email at oserey@silverhawks.com and let me know one way or another whether you heard the game all the way through the end on Sunday. We are certainly trying to make sure that this never happens, and knowing when you have problems with the feed helps us out tremendously. So again, if you could, please email me and let me know about Sunday.

Also, if you ever lose the feed during a game, feel free to email me at the above address as well. I always have my email open during the game, and while I usually don't have time to respond, if I start getting mass amounts of emails about people losing the feed, I can make some calls during commercial breaks to try to fix it.

Thanks,

Owen

Listening Online

If you go to www.silverhawks.com, the link that says "Follow the game live: Audio" at the top of the page will now take you to where you need to go. If it takes you to a page where you have to select the team, remember the Silver Hawks can be found underneath the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Also, don't forget about the archived games, found under the Multimedia tab.

Poll Results

Had 28 people vote in my poll about yesterday's exhibition. Here are the results:

17 attended the game
1 was listening locally on the radio
10 were listening on the internet

Be sure to vote in the new poll on the right.

Again, we believe we've worked everything out with the streaming audio, and should be all set for Thursday night against West Michigan. I thank you all for your patience, and I appreciate those of you that sent me an email letting me know you had problems. I always welcome your emails, and try to respond when I can (assuming I'm not in the middle of the broadcast, of course...although I've been known to send an email during a commercial break).

Over the next few days, I'll be getting back into the routine of the regular season, so you'll start to see more of a trend with the blog posts, etc. For now, enjoy the major league games today, and be sure to listen to the Silver Hawks regular season opener tomorrow night. I'll try to get some pictures posted from West Michigan either Thursday or Friday.

South Bend 5, Notre Dame 1

The Silver Hawks won tonight over Notre Dame, 5-1. The game story is up on www.silverhawks.com.

For those of you attempting to listen online, I understand we had some issues with the streaming audio early on, but I believe that was fixed later in the game. If you kept trying throughout the game, and never got the feed, please email me at oserey@silverhawks.com and tell me what problems you were having. This is why we have exhibition games. It's not just a practice game for the players, it's for the staff and the radio broadcasters as well.

I hope you enjoyed the game, and trust me, it'll be a lot simpler and better on Thursday. It was like a spring training game with about 20 different players seeing action for South Bend, and roughly 25-30 playing for Notre Dame.

I'll have a few blog posts tomorrow about various things, but feel free to leave any comments on tonight's game below.

Listening Online

For those of you that want to listen to the games online this season (starting tonight), there will be a link on www.silverhawks.com. It is on the right hand side of the screen, but it is about halfway down (in the green sidebar, next to recent news) and reads "Listen to Silver Hawks Games Here".

This link is good for live games only. We'll create a page for archived broadcasts and have that updated ASAP (certainly by the weekend). If you have any problems, visit this site: http://www.allinbroadcasting.com/ and try the link there. If you are still having problems, you can call customer service at this number: 1-877-913-9739.

Also, if you have problems, please send me an email at oserey@silverhawks.com. This is the first Silver Hawks game to be broadcast on the radio/internet since 2004, so we are doing our best to make everything go smoothly. We want to work out all the kinks tonight, so that we're all set for Thursday's opener.

Enjoy the game.
