Matt Helm left yesterday's game in the first inning with a knee injury. He was on crutches today as he entered the stadium and certainly is not in the lineup tonight.
I have not heard any rumblings of a roster move, so I'm guessing he'll be out a few days and hopefully just has a bruise and nothing more serious.

An Opportunity to Make Fun of Me
I try to keep myself clear of the insult line as much as possible, and I don't unnecessarily call attention to my stupid actions.
However, this one is too embarrassing to keep to myself. I am sitting at work right now, in extreme pain due to a back that is all out of whack. This is the 4th or 5th time in my life I've thrown my back out (which is embarrassing in itself given that I'm only 28). However, every other time I've done it I've had a legitimate reason: lifted something too heavy, shoveled snow all day, slipped on ice, etc.
Not this time. No, this time I've apparently managed to throw my back out because I played Tiger Woods Golf for the Nintendo Wii yesterday. I played in the afternoon, and managed to make it through my round without any issues. However, as I got ready for bed last night, the familiar discomfort started. I was able to sleep through the night, but things have gotten worse this morning, and now I'm hobbling around the office staring at my shoelaces because I can't straighten up.
The real question: If this is happening at the age of 28, what am I going to be like when I'm 50?

701 and Counting
As I went to post this entry, I noticed that I had previously posted 700 blog entries. I started this blog on March 14th, 2009, and have posted 700 times in 370 days. This is entry number 701. So if you've been reading this blog since the start, imagine how much useless information you've read about in the last year.
A few tidbits for you today:
-Mark Reynolds has signed a contract extension with the Diamondbacks. He's a former Silver Hawks infielder, a great power hitter, but really needs to cut down on the strikeouts.
-This post by Nick Piecoro talks about Jordan Norberto battling Clay Zavada for a bullpen spot, and about Eric Smith looking good in a minor league game (Smith pitched for the Silver Hawks at the end of 2009).
-Mark Haley has another blog entry up, and they actually played a game yesterday. Click here for the report, including a potential Silver Hawks player getting injured.

Sinclair Update
I mentioned this on the air the other day, but if you didn't catch it, here it is again:
Taylor Sinclair did not make the trip to Grand Rapids with the team, and has returned to Arizona to rehab.
I'm no expert, and I have no inside information to back this up, but my thought is that if he's back in Arizona already, then he's not going to pitch again this season.
From what I understand, he tore a muscle in his chest. Given that he's a pitcher, that's a major injury.

Injury News - Jarrod Parker and Marc Krauss
We've talked about Justin Parker and his shoulder injury a lot this year, but now there is injury news on the other Parker brother, Jarrod.
He is going to have his right elbow examined because of some discomfort he felt in his last start.
Here's hoping that it is nothing too serious, and even if he has to shut it down for the year, that he can avoid surgery and be ready to go in spring training next year.
Also, as expected, Marc Krauss will have surgery on his ankle and will miss the rest of the season. He should be fine for spring training next year.

Today's Roster Move
INF Justin Parker activated from the DL.
OF Marc Krauss sent to Arizona for injury evaluation.

My Take: It's great to get Justin Parker back. His bat is a huge addition to the lineup when he's healthy. However, it's unfortunate that Krauss' ankle injury is so bad that he's heading back to Arizona, where it appears surgery might be an option. Krauss is not expected to rejoin the Silver Hawks this season, so that leads me to believe he's not playing again this year.
Hopefully Parker's shoulder is healthy enough that it allows him to DH most of the time and play third the rest of the time. With Krauss out, there's not much power left in the lineup. A healthy Parker would be big to protect Pollock and Marte in the lineup.

Krauss Update
I had a comment in my last post asking why Krauss left the game yesterday. He has had some lingering ankle injuries, and they really bothered him yesterday. I would imagine he would be out of the lineup tonight, and then hopefully with some rest he'll be able to DH for a while before returning to the field.

Update on Sinclair
From what I've been told, Sinclair left the game last night with a pulled groin muscle. It doesn't appear that bad, and he may not miss a start.
I'll see if I can get a better update today (and sorry for not posting this last night after the game, the wireless internet in the hotel was not working).
I thought the jobs done by Meaker, Woodall, and Hose in relief were as good as we've seen by the Silver Hawks bullpen this season. 7.1 innings of two run baseball is fantastic.
