Greetings from Bowling Green

The team arrived in Bowling Green at 6:35 AM Eastern Time, 5:35 AM local time in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  The route from Grand Rapids took us east towards Lansing, then south through Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Louisville, and finally to Bowling Green.

The interesting thing about the trip was that the Hot Rods were playing in Fort Wayne, and they played 13 innings last night.  So even though Bowling Green probably got into town earlier than the Silver Hawks, it wasn't by much.

Two quick notes:

1 - Sorry again about not posting a lineup last night.  Blogger was down and I had no access to it late afternoon/early evening in West Michigan.

2 - There is not going to be any blog posts tomorrow, unless I can get the lineups up shortly before game time.  As mentioned on the air last night, I have the chance to go to my nephew's first birthday party tomorrow.  It's about a 2 or 2.5 hour drive each way, so I'm leaving early and won't be back until a couple of hours before game time.

Long Trip, But We Made It

The bus pulled out of Bowling Green Ballpark about 1:15 Eastern Time this afternoon.  Twenty minutes up the road, we had about a 40 minute stop so the guys could get something to eat.  Then, the long journey to Eastlake, Ohio began in full.

Roughly 500 miles later, we arrived to the hotel just before 10:00 PM Eastern Time.  The bus ride consisted of two movies (both were way too loud), a pit stop at a rest area, and finally the Heat/Sixers game on satellite TV (a nice addition for the longer trips).

Upon exiting the bus, just about everyone dropped luggage off in their room before going back out to grab a late dinner.  I'd imagine most guys are back in their rooms now, ready to put an end to a day that started at about 8 AM Eastern.  Imagine how much later it would be if the game hadn't been rained out today!

With that, I'm climbing into bed to fall asleep to the sounds of Baseball Tonight or SportsCenter, whichever of the two happens to be on ESPN currently.  Good night from Eastlake, Ohio.

Good Morning from the Bus

It's 5:55 AM as I start this post, and we're roughly 20 miles from Coveleski Stadium after driving through the night from Bowling Green, Kentucky. This is the second straight overnight bus trip after doing the same thing on Monday night/Tuesday morning from Eastlake, Ohio to Bowling Green.

I can promise you the guys are tired, but winning last night 10-2 has certainly made this trip a bit easier. Thankfully, manager Mark Haley and the rest of the staff realize that sleeping on the bus isn't the same as sleeping in a bed, so the players get a bit of break today as they don't have to be at the stadium as early as normal.

Like the players, I plan on going straight home and going to sleep for a few hours before returning to the park.

Hope everyone else got a good night's sleep. I'll try to have some posts later today with notes and lineups and stuff.

Good Morning (Or is it Afternoon?) From Bowling Green

It's 11:41 AM here in Bowling Green...12:41 PM back in South Bend. It's only an hour difference, but I'm all messed up on my time already.

The bus left Eastlake, Ohio around 10:30 PM Eastern Time last night, and we drove straight through (no stops) to Bowling Green, Kentucky. We arrived at 5:45 AM Eastern Time (or 4:45 here in the central time zone).

The hotel is very nice, and there are plenty of options to eat around the ballpark.

I slept about 2 hours on the bus, and then about 4 and a half hours at the hotel before my body clock forced me out of bed. I ate lunch already (at 10:35 AM central time), and have already walked around the mall and picked up a few groceries at the local Kroger.

It's getting very close to being nap time however, since we won't be heading to the stadium until 4:15 central time.

Back at Home

For those that are wondering...

Left Cedar Rapids at about 10:20 PM Central Time.

Arrived to Coveleski Stadium at 4:35 AM Eastern Time.

I arrived at my apartment at 4:59 AM Eastern Time. I imagine most of the players got to their places about the same time.

My head hit the pillow at 5:10 AM Eastern Time.

My alarm went off at 8:20 AM Eastern Time so I could do a radio interview at 8:30.

The interview ended at 8:36 AM, and my head was back on the pillow at 8:38 AM.

The alarm went off again at 10:50 AM. I got up, got ready, and have been at work since 11:45 AM.

I don't think the players are due to arrive until 4 PM today. I think because of the late night/early morning, they get to have a late arrival to the park today. I'm jealous!

Greetings from Beloit

Just checked into the Econo Lodge in Beloit, shortly after 5 AM Eastern (although we did gain an hour as it is now 4 AM Central). The only reason I'm not asleep right now is because I'm trying to unkink my body after attempting to sleep in every position humanly possible on the bus.

Good night! Or good morning! Either way, I'm going to sleep for a while hopefully.
