In talking to manager Mark Haley, this is how the rotation should shape up in the first week of the season:
Tuesday (exhibition at Notre Dame): RHP J.R. Bradley
Thursday (opener at Fort Wayne): LHP David Holmberg
Friday (at Fort Wayne): RHP Tyler Green/RHP Jeff Shields (piggyback rotation)
Saturday (at Fort Wayne): LHP Patrick Schuster
Sunday (at Fort Wayne): RHP Bradin Hagens
Monday (home opener): RHP J.R. Bradley
Tuesday: RHP Jeff Shields/RHP Tyler Green (reverse of the previous turn)
For those that don't understand the "piggyback" system, basically Tyler Green will start the first time through the rotation, pitch about 5 innings, then Jeff Shields will enter in relief. The next time through the rotation, Sheilds will start for 5 innings, and then Green will be in relief. It's a way of developing two starting pitchers in just one rotation spot -- it also limits their innings quite a bit and saves their arms for later in the year.
Where is Dan Taylor? Are they making him a full-time reliever now?
ReplyDeleteFull time reliever. You got it.
ReplyDeleteDo the Silver Hawks have a chatroom open during the game like several other teams have?
ReplyDeleteNot at this time, but we may consider that in the near future.
