LAST GAME: South Bend starter David Holmberg (LP, 0-3) struck out a career high 12 batters in 7.0 innings yesterday, but still suffered a tough loss by allowing two unearned runs in a 2-1 defeat to the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Both Hot Rods runs scored after throws from catcher Ramon Castillo – making his first start behind the plate – sailed into centerfield for errors. South Bend scored their lone run in the top of the second on a RBI triple by Chris Jarrett. The Hawks managed just four hits against Victor Mateo (WP, 1-2) and went 0-for-9 with RISP. Chris Rearick (SV, 3) left the tying run at second in the ninth to get the save.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
