LAST GAME: The West Michigan Whitecaps took game one of the series, and of the season, over the South Bend Silver Hawks by a final score of 5-2 Thursday night. Casey Crosby (WP, 1-0) struck out nine in 5.2 innings, with the West Michigan bullpen combining for 3.1 shutout innings to hold the Silver Hawks offense at bay. Ben Guez went 2-for-4 to lead West Michigan at the plate, with two double, two RBI, and two runs scored. Jake Elmore led the Hawks on offense, with a two-RBI double in the sixth inning to chase Crosby from the game.

TEAM NOTES:
· West Michigan has defeated the Silver Hawks in two straight Opening Night games.
· South Bend had the tying run on base in both the 7th and 8th inning, but could not get him past first base.
· The Silver Hawks committed two errors on Opening Night, leading to one unearned run.
· South Bend is one of three teams to hit two batters last night, joining the Great Lakes Loons and Kane County Cougars.
