Opening Night Thoughts

  • Tip of the cap to West Michigan starter Casey Crosby -- he was simply dominating through 5 innings.
  • West Michigan manager Joe DePastino got Crosby out at the right time, he was fading fast, and the Silver Hawks were taking advantage.
  • Let's not forget that Trevor Harden pitched a very solid ballgame as well. Eight K's in 5.0 innings is very strong.
  • Not a whole lot of offense tonight for the Hawks, but I think that's more of a credit to West Michigan pitching.
  • It's one game, don't read too much into it. This team wasn't going to go 140-0, and they won't go 0-140. I'm always amazed at how many people think the world is ending when their team loses on Opening Day. I have news for you: half the teams in the league lose on Opening Day.

I'll have more updates tomorrow, including some pictures from the ballpark and some information about the Fifth Third Burger that I talked about on the air tonight.

Thank you, I like that comment that it is one game and that we won't go 140-0 or 0-140, we still did better last night than we did last year at the cove at our opener with the Whitecaps
they had 10 runs before we were out of the 1st inning. I was at the game last night and will be tonight also and I know that the "boys" will try to bring a win tonight.

You're right, Trevor was very solid. Although they connected on a few shots, seems the defense was a little substandard at times. All of this will improve game-by-game I'm sure. Great performance on Trevor's first outing for the Hawks. Keep watching this cat in the future.
