LAST GAME: A four run fourth innings was the difference in West Michigan’s 5-3 defeat of the South Bend Silver Hawks on Thursday night. Three singles against Jeff Shields (LP, 1-4) started the inning and loaded the bases, then Steven Moya and Jeff Rowland had back-to-back two run doubles to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead. Kevin Eichhorn (WP, 2-2) allowed only two runs against his former organization. Raywilly Gomez and Jhoan Pimentel had a RBI each for the Silver Hawks, who remained tied with West Michigan in the Eastern Division standings after splitting the four game series.
TEAM NOTES:
· The Silver Hawks bullpen has allowed just six earned runs in the last 55.2 innings pitched (0.97 ERA since April 28th).
· The defense has turned 36 double plays in 34 games this season – ranking third in the league.
· The team is in the middle of a six-day, eight-game road trip to West Michigan and Bowling Green. Currently 2-2 on trip.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
· Yazy Arbelo ranks 1st in the MWL with nine home runs and 29 RBIs.
· Raywilly Gomez had a 6 game hitting streak come to a close last night. His streak is tied with Mike Freeman for longest on team.
· Eury De La Rosa has stretched his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 10.0 – tying Tyler Green for team high.
· Blake Cooper has not allowed a run in his last 8.1 innings pitched.
