LAST GAME: For the second day in a row, the Silver Hawks gave up a lot of runs early and didn’t manage much offense to speak of in a 7-1 defeat to the Great Lakes Loons on Tuesday night. The Loons scored four in the first and three more in the second to put the loss on South Bend starter Patrick Schuster (LP, 0-2). Bryant Hernandez and Blake Dean had back-to-back homers to pace the Loons’ second inning attack. Garrett Gould (WP, 4-0) allowed just one run in his six innings on the hill to tie for the Midwest League lead in victories. Raul Navarro had the lone RBI for the Silver Hawks, who were held to just four hits in the game (two by Chris Jarrett).
