LAST GAME: Beloit starter Brad Tippett (WP, 7-3) shut out the Silver Hawks for 7.0 innings, and the Snappers defeated South Bend 5-1 on Friday night to avoid the sweep. Ozzie Lewis had two RBI for the Snappers, with James Beresford and Ramon Santana adding one each. Brett Moorhouse (LP, 4-9) was charged with five runs in 5.0 innings, although only three were earned, as he suffers his ninth loss of the season. Yonata Ortega (ND) threw two scoreless innings of relief, with Brad Wilson (ND) adding one scoreless frame. A.J. Pollock had the only RBI for South Bend on a groundout to score Reynaldo Navarro. Alberto Diaz and Nelson Gomez each had two hits for the Silver Hawks.

TEAM NOTES:
· South Bend took two out of three from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the first half at Coveleski Stadium.
· The Silver Hawks are now 5-2 on the current 10 game road trip – the longest road trip of the 2009 season.
· SB was 14-9 against the West in the first half, including 2-1 vs. Wisconsin. Silver Hawks are 2-1 against West in the second half.
· The Hawks have won six games in July. The team won just four games during the entire month of June.
· South Bend leads the chase for the second half playoff spots by a game over DTN and GL, and 2.5 games over LAN.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES:
· Justin Parker was placed on the DL today with left shoulder inflammation. Ramon Ramirez rejoins the club from Visalia.
· Ryan Cook snapped a personal seven game losing streak on Wednesday night. He tied the team’s season high with 8 K’s.
· Reliever Brad Wilson has tossed 4.1 scoreless innings for South Bend and 12.1 scoreless innings as a pro.
· RHP Bryan Woodall has lowered his ERA from 7.08 to 3.76 since June 5th, and has not allowed a run in July.
· Randy Rodriguez has lost six starts in a row.
